This Stash Invest Review will lay out the pros and cons, pricing, features and benefits of Stash Invest so that you can determine whether it's a good fit for your investing needs. Is Stash Invest worth it? Let's find out…

An Overview Of The Stash Investment App

Stash seeks to educate new investors on the basics of the stock market. Their original product was their brokerage account that allows users to invest in the stock market for just $1 per month. The available investments range from ETF funds that track market sectors, indices, social investments and more, to single stock purchases from hundreds of the most well known stock companies today. Stash customers can invest with as little as $5 per trade, which also means the option to purchase fractional shares, a sought after feature for many investors with limited funds.

Stash offers individual brokerage investment accounts, individual retirement accounts (IRA's), custodial accounts (accounts for your children), and a modern checking account called Stash Spend. The checking account allows users to participate in their “Stock-Back” program, a modern version of cashback programs combined with investing (explained in more detail below).

Stash Invest: Features, Benefits & Pricing

Stash provides multiple features for investors available among three different account options: Beginner, Growth & Stash Plus. Here is a breakdown of all the products offered by stash, along with what each subscription plan offers and at what price.

Why Choose Stash Over Other Investing Apps?

What makes stash any different than other investing apps such as Acorns, M1 Finance, Betterment, or any other micro investing app out there? While some may argue it's just another “copy-cat” product, Stash certainly has some useful features that aren't offered on other apps. They are:

  • The ability to purchase fractional shares commission free (with exception to the monthly cost starting at $1 per month).
  • Their modern Stock Back program offers cash back in the form of stock in the company you made a purchase at.
  • The ability to invest with an individual brokerage account, minor custodial accounts, IRA accounts and a checking account (most apps offer only a couple of those, but not all in one place).
  • They provide a monthly economic update for Stash Plus members that gives you detailed insights of the economy to keep you informed.
  • Access to educational content for investors from beginners to experts.

While many investing apps provide some of the above listed features, Stash has a unique approach giving you both simplicity and accessibility of all the above in one convenient location, the Stash Invest App.

What is “Stock-Back” by Stash Invest?

Stash's checking account and debit card has a modern way of earning extra money in the form of investments through their Stock-Back program. When you use your Stash debit card for every day purchases, Stash will do one of two things with each purchase:

  1. If your purchase is made at a Stash partnered retailer, either in person or online, you will get cashback in the form of stock of the partnered company at which you made a purchase.
  2. If the company you shop at with your Stash debit card is not publicly traded, or if it's not a part of Stash's partnered retail network, Stash will deposit stock back into your investment account in the form of shares of stock in their ETF fund, Stocks Worldwide.

In other words, every time you use your Stash debit card, you get cashback in the form of stock, either in shares of the company where you shopped or the Stocks Worldwide ETF fund.

What Stock Companies Are Available For Trade With Stash Invest?
